This treatment was focused on restoring the usability of the object while preserving original material and structure. The object consists of a full red leather manuscript. Text in black manuscript inks is on laid starched and burnished paper. Black, blue, green, and gold, hand-applied colorants are found in the title page decoration. Taftazani was a Muslim, Persian polymath. He wrote a number of works (grammar, theology, law, rhetoric…) that were used as textbooks. This volume is possibly a treatise on Arabic language rhetoric.

Vulnerable tears and losses to the edges and spine folds of the leaves were mended with mulberry paper adhered with a mixture of wheat starch paste and methylcellulose, avoiding sensitive media
