“Mushaf” refers to the compiled, written pages of the Qur’an. Producing miniature manuscripts of the Qur'an is a longstanding tradition, with the oldest known miniature Qur’an dating to approximately the 9th century. In Islamic art, octagons often refer to the number eight which symbolizes regeneration and renewal. Geometric shapes are an essential element in Islamic art and are used to represent the unity, order, and harmony of the universe.
This treatment and housing protocol was conducted with the objective of stabilizing structural components and designing intuitive housing to enable careful handling in a classroom setting.
